Choose a compatible tag
Use an NFC Forum Type 2 tag with a seven-byte ISO 14443 Type A UID. NTAG213, NTAG215, and NTAG216 are the safest choices.

Add it to OpenTags
Read the physical UID, create your tag record, and choose the information or action it should provide.

Write the public link
Use an NFC-writing app to save your tag’s HTTPS address as the first NDEF URI record.

Tap and test
Try it before attaching it. Confirm the page opens and the contact information is correct.

iPhone compatibility

Not every NFC tag works the same way.

For the most reliable tap-to-browser experience, choose an NDEF-writable NFC Forum Type 2 tag with a seven-byte ISO 14443 Type A UID. OpenTags currently supports that UID format.

Apple supports app-free background NFC tag reading on iPhone XS and later. The tag’s NDEF message must put an HTTP or HTTPS address in its first URI record. Tags with a different UID length, without writable NDEF memory, or using another radio standard are not supported by this version of OpenTags.
